Gutterpress 0.11.16: smarter components and a snippet card grid
Released 2026-10-09.
This release is about plugin components: helping authors write them correctly, and letting plugins tell authors when something is off.
Components guide the author
- Example snippets. Pick a plugin component, by typing
@at the start of a line or from the snippet picker, and the editor inserts the component's example snippet:snippets/<marker>.mdin its extension, or the path the marker names withsnippet:. - Variants in autocomplete. Typing
@sklists@skilland one@skill <variant>entry per variant the marker declares. - Content checks. A marker may declare
validate(component). It gets a plain description of the content and returns problems, which show in the Problems panel, gutterpress validateand builds, at the right line. - Mistyped variants are reported.
@npc-stat wirephreekused to be ignored silently. Now Problems says it is not a variant and suggests the one you meant. - Section markers. A marker declared with
section: truebehaves exactly like a core@sectioncarrying the marker's classes.
A searchable snippet picker
Snippets now show as cards in a grid, grouped by level: your book, each extension, then core. A search box filters by name and content as you type, level chips and "Components only" narrow it further, and Enter inserts the first match.
Extension versions
Each npm extension on the Features tab has a Version menu. Choosing one
installs it the way gutterpress ext add name@version does, and the pin
moves only once the new version has downloaded, verified and loaded. A
missing or broken copy gets an Install (or Reinstall) button.
Book settings → Features is now split into Installed & built-in, Search
and Advanced tabs.
